Family Project
I was exempted from this project because I was still working on my large slab construction at the time.

Project of Choice #3
For my third project of choice, I made a mini coil pot. Since my very first coil pot was sort of a mess I decided to give it another try. This time I tried to keep the coils even and made sure not to let the coils droop as I stacked them. I could of possibly smoothed it out a bit more, but this is how it turned out.
Project of Choice #2
For my second project of choice, I created what I like to call a pentagon pot. The pot is completely constructed by geometric pentagon shapes. I was inspired by pictures on google of geometric terrariums ,which are sealed transparent globes or a similar container in which plants are grown. Terrariums are typically made of glass, so I decide to try and form one out of clay.
Project of Choice #1
For my first project of choice, I decided to make a box with a lid. I originally wanted to make coasters with some detailed designs ,but I ended up making it into a box to ensure that the project was three dimensional. On each side of the box there are textured detailed designs of different landscapes. I created these designs with a ruler and a needle tool, I also free-handed some designs from my sketches.
Large Slab Construction
For my large slab construction, I choose to make a barn. There is no particular reason I decided to create a barn, I just wanted to build some sort of house like structure. I carved my windows and door, as well as texture with a needle tool. Once fired, I glazed and filled in the windows and door.
Small Slab Construction
For my small slab construction, I made a little square box. This was the first slab construction I did in this class, so since I was still learning I kept it simple. Once fired, I glazed the box bright yellow and orange, and I use it to store hair ties in my room.

5 Techniques Project
I was inspired by an image I found on google, that's why I decided to try and create a plate like piece. For sprigging I chose to attach small round balls around the edge of my plate. For Mishima I scratched a snow flake like design into the center of the plate and filled in the line with dark blue under glaze. For Impressed texture I pressed a patterned stencil into the outside edge of the plate, then went over it with yellow under glaze.I displayed Sgraffito using light blue under glaze and then I scratched some wavy lines into the surface of the glaze. For slip trailing I used the same dark blue glaze and I lined the edge of my Sgraffito design. One thing I could have done differently is my impressed texture,I waited to long to do my pressed texture because I was busy with all the other techniques.By the time I got to the impressed texture my clay was already leather hard and it was pretty difficult to make a defined design.

Mishima, Sgraffito, Sprigging, Slip Trailing, and Impressed Texture
Mishima- Involves carving a pattern or decoration on the surface of clay then going back to fill in the carvings with glaze. Finally the excess clay is removed to create a cleaner and clearer design.
Sgrafitto-Involves using leather hard clay coated in glaze, and then scratched on the surface to reveal a layer underneath.

Sgrafitto-Involves using leather hard clay coated in glaze, and then scratched on the surface to reveal a layer underneath.

Sprigging- A technique for decorating and enhancing pottery detail by creating a vessel, then making other pieces to attach to that vessel before firing.
Slip Trailing- A technique using slip or underglaze to create decorative designs on the surface of the clay.
Impressed Texture- A technique that indents a design or textures into soft clay by pressing different shaped objects into it. Ex: coin, leaf, or lace
